The cottages are positioned along a ridge overlooking
the forest, and are sufficiently separated from one another and the
homestead to ensure privacy. Access to each cottage is via a ramp at the
rear, while a two square covered elevated deck extends out to the forest
at the front.
Combined with large windows and
skylights, cathedral ceilings and the extensive use of natural timbers and
earthy colours, the feeling is one of spaciousness and being part of the
natural environment. Each cottage consists of a 3 square tastefully
furnished living room (with TV, video, stereo CD/cassette player); well
equipped kitchenette and meals area; a modern bathroom with shower; and a
main bedroom. Cottages are smoke-free.
During the warmer months the cottages enjoy cool breezes and the shade
of surrounding eucalypts, and during the cooler months gas heaters and
electric blankets ensure that guests stay warm and cosy.
The area abounds with wildlife - a diverse range of birds from
wedge-tailed eagles to king parrots, bowerbirds, kingfishers and
honeyeaters: native mammals including wallabies, echidnas, koalas, and
possums; reptiles including giant goannas; and turtles, platypus and fish
in the river.
