This rustic
air-conditioned room with its own garden aspect of
plumbago and an ancient pomegranate tree offers a
very special appeal making it a favourite with all
guests.
Featuring exposed hand-made bricks, butt jointed
original Otway hardwood flooring, with Turkish floor
rugs, a Baltic pine coved ceiling, Japanese
wood-block prints, antique brass and iron queen
sized bed, this was the original homestead kitchen.
It has an open fireplace and still retains the
original peel and bakers’ oven which is in the wall.
This popular 14
foot high ceiling, air-conditioned room with
bedspread and curtains of soft Liberty chintz
provides an antique queen size four-poster bed. and overlooks the courtyard gallery.
A collection of original watercolor illustrations
from children's books are a feature of the room. A
third bed is available by prior arrangement.

Although a
smaller room the Hayes room is carpeted and softly
decorated and features an antique brass and iron
double bed with limed oak furniture and ensuite
facilities. Internet access is available.
It overlooks the garden arches of roses through to
the Irish strawberry trees. These trees create a
woodland effect and will bring colourful hues as the
fruit ripens throughout the year.

The Otway
Ranges are soon to become a National Park running
from Anglesea to Lavers Hill. This temperate
rainforest area is lush with tree ferns, huge
mountain ash and several cascading waterfalls. The
600 metre long Otway Fly Tree Top Walk gives a
spectacular view of many trees and plants. It is
easy to spend a day absorbing the Otways magic.
This beautiful
lake, twenty minutes from Birregurra, was created by
a huge landslip in the 1950s. Flooded trees stand
stark in the lake which is home to platypus and many
aquatic birds. A walking trail to and around the
lake through the forest is a beautiful prelude to
the Lake itself. Tours can be arranged with Paddle
with the Platypus for early morning and evening
canoe trips to view the lake and its wildlife.
The Great Ocean Road and the Twelve Apostles rock
formations are amongst the tourist icons of
Victoria. The road is carved out of the towering
cliffs of the Otway Ranges with magnificent ocean
and coastal views. The Twelve Apostles make an
imposing sight east of Port Campbell and the awesome
Loch Ard George should not be missed. |
